What an honour and privilege to blow a bit of harp on Lachlan and Astrid’s recessional song performed by Jon Collins at their wedding reception last month. Initially Lachlan (my son) had enquired if I’d like to play some Aussie classics with Jon, which I was really chuffed to be offered. However, I was more interested in doing something special for them on just one tune.
Lachlan had mentioned that Jon was learning ‘their’ song All Your’n by Tyler Childers. The song doesn’t have any harp so I thought I’d put my own stamp on it. It went down something like this.
Genelle, who did a fantastic job with all the wedding and reception photos, snapped this action shot of the Ol’ Dawg Hisself with Jon.
Thanks to Jon Collins (and the happy couple) for briefly allowing me to share the spotlight. He’s a cracker of a bloke. Jon’s all originals album is out now over on Bandcamp. It’s all killer with no filler. The title track, Lovestrong is a ripper and there’s whistling too!
